Listening is the first skill for any musician; and most of the best musicians started playing after having seen or heard a particular artist, been blown away and then inspired to create their own music.
The Family Album gives aspiring musicians (of any age) the chance to have that experience; the musicians also share their experiences and their favourite music through a mini-zine, which is free for all attenders! Encouraging young people to listen to new music also helps new music audiences in the future, meaning that the new musicians will have someone to listen to their music!
Adults with children like listening to music as much as adults without children, and there is no reason that they should not be allowed to listen to music together. The interaction between parents/guardians and children attending concerts together is powerful. But perhaps the concert is not always quite set up to allow this to happen as often as it should. The Family Album is hosted in a relaxed setting, with good access and food.
