Entries for Mar 2014

Sadly, we've had to cancel the Musson/Noble/Sanders performance at 2ndline on March 12th. Many apologies...

Not to mention that I'll be playing in Crewe THIS Wednesday! https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/general-1394047800

New music! Rachel Musson and me...

and because that went so very wrong:

I HATE MY PHONE.

It would appear that I am still ill [I'd forgotten to mention that I was ill before].

Still, today is VAST IMPROV day with some great people: https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/general-1394047800

But this morning has been spent reviewing CSS and transferring code.

The gigs pages have had JSON-LD data since July/August: but not RDFa. You can't see it, but it's there...

All I need to do is convert my contact page over and my affair with microformats is over.

Just checking out Graham Collier's posthumous release Luminosity, which came in the post yesterday!

An old question: ON A WEEKDAY, if you [and your close family, including children] wanted to come to a gig, what time would be best?

Spring tidying. A subtle shuffle of the home page; adding a gig to #2ndline; tidying the trio website.

[and some admin. AND some university work.]

You can still check out the duo recording with Rachel Musson here:

To Sheffield today for birthday boy Martin Archer's large madness: https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/general-1394393400

Totally forgot to talk about the great time I had with Nick Malcolm a couple of weeks ago...

... But that's because the walk to venue almost destroyed me! #

Had an insanely good night playing in Martin Archer's Engine Room Favourites last night!

Today, more work on cognizance's communication with Twitter.

Posted a few gigs to the cognizance timeline, hope other musicians will do the same!

And come to think of it, promoters too!

Enjoyable time in Sheffield with Martin Archer's Engine Room Favourites!

The Engine Room Favourites gig has had to move because the previous venue won an award and thus decided to close and cancel a gig.

Luckily Lancaster Jazz were able to find another venue...

But what is a "great national venue" doing RIGHT if it has to use ALL its staff to pick up an award over four days?

Sonsale [w. Andy Champion, Valentin Ceccaldi and Sylvain Darrifourcq] will be Jazz on 3 in a fortnight!

This morning: working on calendar grabbing for cognizance.

That sinking feeling when visiting a musician's site to get details for a gig and finding no mention of it, anywhere.

New gig: Backyard Chassis + Ripsaw Catfish—https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/general-1404504000

Facebook posting woes.

Decided today to see if I could improve what I share from the site—but I can tell you it is not going well. There will be quite a few annoyed statuses until it works...

Other than that, today I'll be writing an essay: and then preparing to run away from technology for a few days. Feeling a need for a recharge.

Yesterday there were two lovely albums released: one from Chris Sharkey, Andy Champion and Joost Hendricx...

...and Trio Riot's great new album too!

On the course: it's going well. Got good mark for the contrafacts essay: and very happy with the feedback!

Ooh... possibly a breakthrough?

Looking forward to the Belgium trip with Nat Birchall on Sunday... https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/nat-1395583200

A VERY long time testing Facebook posting from the web-site. Hope it works!!

Thoroughly disappointing coding day.

Literally everything I've touched today has turned to ash. Off my PHP game today...

Another short period of website to Facebook testing...

...that is not working...

Yesterday was a nightmare rush, attempted to do far too many things at once in terms of coding.

It's not like I have much time today: I'm away for most of the week, but I'd really like to crack it.

Meanwhile I've been watching this piece of sweetness to cheer me up:

A few days away is certainly in order.

And should be raring to go for the gig with Nat Birchall on Sunday! https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/nat-1395583200

Really looking forward to going to Belgium again: people seemed friendly and really into the music.

Quiet test... [I'm still on holiday]

This will become much more interesting once I've got the Facebook posting to work.

Travelling by Ryanair so the long stick bag may not be an option... will it all fit??

Had a great break away from technology for a couple of days... but I'm back now.

Checking through e-mails and noticing that all those marked urgent had been resolved with no urgency at all.

There are days when you need to understand things, and act; and there are days when you need to listen, and wait.

It's like I've spent such a long time slowly coming round to that: of just taking things in without having to know a finer detail...

Zoning out to this: totally hypnotic.

Not seen this before. That great moment when Tchicai stares the cameraman down.

People on Facebook: no longer will you get a raw deal on status updates! I can now post to Twitter and Facebook and my site simultaneously.

It took a bit of a break from the computer: but I think I've finally got Facebook posting working now. Sorry for the random flood of messages...

Right. Time to pack. Manchester Airport, then to Belgium! https://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/nat-1395583200

Back from Leuven! Had a great time with Nat Birchall, Adam Fairhall, Johnny Hunter and Michael Bardon. Now to deal with the train!

Today will be spent at the piano with a notebook and a nice pen.

My writing day with the piano was joined by Severn Trent's diggers! So I decided to fill some of my day with listening.

Oh wow—Dunmall's trio sounds incredible!

Re-reading my contrafacts essay, and seeing where I could improve it.I think once I'm done, I'll post it on-line at my MRes mini-page.

All change on the website! Let me know what you think...

And no more of that Event Stream weirdness on the front page, either. Gone for a much lighter approach...

Clocks go forward—and yet I still wake up at the same time.

Had some really nice feedback on the new site design so far. Thanks so having a look!

I'm going to attempt a better version of "status stream" on the home page. SSE is not too bad, but finicky.

Sorry—SSE stands for Server Sent Events.

If you're liking the background photo on my site you may want to check out Julian Sewell's Flickr page. Great shots!

Okay Virgin Media, I take it back. Just downloaded the recording of the gig with Adam Fairhall and Dave Kane—super speedy!

Thinking about Mr Coxhill.

It's Karl Berger's birthday today! Check him out on this... great playing!

Currently dealing with LaMonte Young. For school credit.

It's a day for notebooks! #
