Entries for 6th Apr 2014
I promise not to cry, but it's the very last One Note Sunday today.
Strangely, I don't feel too sad about it. For a start, I'm really looking forward to hearing Ripsaw Catfish...
...and secondly, it did actually work on different levels. Only one person complained about the price [£5 was too much apparently]...
... and the flexible payment structure gave people permission to pay more if they wanted: and sometimes they did!
One Note Sunday had the one of the clearest booking policies of any night in the UK:
Not that this helped, of course, as some people still asked to do One Note Sunday on a day that wasn't a Sunday.
And how I laughed [for almost a second] as the leader of a septet asked if he could bring his group. Memories...
Anyway: One Note Sunday gave me the chance to hear some amazing things: like Andy Champion and Dom Lash in a duo...
...Trio Riot w. Sam Andreae, Alex Ward, Olie Brice and Steve Noble...
...and very memorably, Oe Fischer and Steve Lawson.
So it's not all bad. Besides: I do have a plan.
Cheering.
So Derby: will One Note Sunday see you for some baritone sax/electric guitar fun with Cath Roberts and Anton Hunter? I hope so!
