Had a bit of a break from the screen, but [relatively] back on things now, albeit slowly. But there's a lot on. This morning, I'll be off into North Derbyshire for a special project for FORMAT at the John Smedley with Pete Judge, Seb Rochford and Catherine Graindorge. If you're free, head over. It's likely to be cold, so wrap up warm.

Just a short note to say that unfortunately my father-in-law is gravely ill, and I've taken the decision to spend time at home for the next couple of weeks. This means I'll be unable to attend the gig on Thursday with Nat Birchall. Though of course you should go if you were! Things will be quiet for a bit, but if you contact me I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Here's me, Robert and HKB FiNN on cajon at the excellent Jazz re:freshed.

Found another video that I forgot to post here—this is with Tony, Larry Bartley on bass and Rod Youngs on drums.

Nicely written summary piece from NPR's A Blog Supreme—which is worth subscribing to if you use RSS—about an unlikely but logical factor in the formation of bebop.

Unfortunately on-going family commitments mean that I'll be unable to be with Gavin Barras' quintet on Tuesday. Although of course you should go if you're around Birmingham!

As far as I'm aware, I tend not to make music for catharsis or personal emotional cleansing. But there was something healing about the gig on Sunday. I may write about this in a longer sense, but in the meantime here's a video play-list of clips from the gig. Hope you like them.
