Just passing through. I'm well: I had a great night on Thursday playing with Brookside Jazz—an evening which I spent desperately trying to remember all the tunes, but having a good time doing so. The band were on top form as per, and their guest, the multi-reedsman Ivan Ball, had lovely tone and pacing in the solos. All in all, a very enjoyable night! Of course, the Baby performed beautifully, and I was able to produce an appropriate tone for the early music—a Norvo/Hampton cross—with some unwrapped mallets and the motor speed set to
The only downsides were the taxis since the frame is still too heavy... but I think I've found an answer...
Other than that, it's been pretty quiet. A recording session with the singer Kerieva went fairly well; but there are some things to be ironed out in the mixes [as always!]. Still the music is strong and it'll be a good show in Edinburgh in August!
