So, how was the trip? 18th Sep 09
0 commentsWell. It was lots of things. I've been putting off writing about this for a few days - there have been a lot of things to process about it all. It's left me sure about my craft/art, but unsure about where I want to be. So I think this is a story that will filter out into other things - tumble into other writings. So please excuse me if this ends abruptly.

0 commentsRight. I'm off to Skopje for nine days tomorrow. I'm hoping the vaguely clement weather will shift this very irritating cough I still have after coming back from Edinburgh [a long couple of days from which I came back quite ill]. Still, the trip's the closest I'll come to having a holiday - and huge amount of cultural things to see and do, so I'm very much looking forward to getting there...
It's a short one 25th Jul 09
0 commentsJust passing through. I'm well: I had a great night on Thursday playing with Brookside Jazz - an evening which I spent desperately trying to remember all the tunes, but having a good time doing so. The band were on top form as per, and their guest, the multi-reedsman Ivan Ball, had lovely tone and pacing in the solos. All in all, a very enjoyable night! Of course, the Baby performed beautifully, and I was able to produce an appropriate tone for the early music - a Norvo/Hampton cross - with some unwrapped mallets and the motor speed set to "turbo"!
