And this is what I wrote in the original discussion: “many thanks for the "route for jazz musicians," a handy list for all us paperpushers, but for that perfect press release / grant application, I'd add the following: legendary (as in there's three nuts who will travel half-way around the country to catch them performing at a pub), pioneering (how can you not have heard of them?), mainstay (they play three gigs a week, but you've never heard of them), celebrated (you've never heard of them, but they've got awards from organizations that you have), and underdecorated (they're the same vintage as one of Jazz Buyers Guide top-25 musicians, but they don't even have an honorary doctorate from a mid-western university).”
