Bereft
This old song also features in the Argentum set: but this is the first time it was performed. It had a point when it was first written, and is hard to play when things are good; so it doesn't get played much now. Check out Tracy on piano - a fantastic composer and pianist who I don't see often enough.
Walt Shaw - percussion; Tracy Hague - piano
Brain Strain
This is from my first gig as a "leader" in Stratford-upon-Avon. I wrote the song when I was seventeen, but had never played the song until that gig - ten years later. I'm a very patient man.
Paul Sawtell - piano; Bill Coleman - bass; Neil Bullock - drums
This song's also available on an excellent compilation by Canadian DJ Andy Williams called Variations in Time: a Jazz Perspective
.
Bulla [excerpt]
This was recorded by my old trio, Happomoku, and is a song about the Jamaican biscuit-cake.
Doruk Ozturckan - drums; Tony Stott - bass
Complex Growing Processes
This was recorded at the same gig as Bulla.
